ABOUT SPEAKING OF RIVERS:
In “The Negro Speaks of Rivers,” Langston Huges” reminds us how listening and remembering is paramount to wisdom. We are reminded how our cultural histories, born out of our ancestor’s experiences informs our own. We are reminded that we cannot break from the rivers that have shown us the patterns that have both shaped us and threatened to destroy us. Promising to be both inspirational and cautionary, Speaking of Rivers is a literary event where artists will share with us the rivers that have informed their personal, cultural, and spiritual lives, so that we may be reminded of the rivers within us and our responsibility to know. Featuring: Lady Narrator, Mike Sonsksen, Cassandra Lane, Yuri Lara, Eric Timmons, Nathan Torres, Wes Kriesel. Curated by Darlene Kriesal in Chapter One’s Red Room.
